LGBTQ+ Resources
Carthage is committed to providing a safe and positive experience for LGBTQ+ students on campus, and offers a variety of resources. Learn how to change your preferred name in your email and Schoology, request housing accommodations, identify allies on campus, and more.
SafeZone
Many Carthage faculty and staff are SafeZone-trained, meaning that they received specific training and are open to talking about and being supportive of LGBTQ+ individuals and identities. These Carthage faculty and staff often display SafeZone stickers on their office windows.
Sexual Violence/Sexual Assault Resources
Carthage has many resources on campus for anyone who suspects that sexual violence has occurred, including Title IX resources, the Office of Public Safety and more.

Title IX
Carthage is committed to providing a learning, living, and working environment free from gender-based discrimination and sexual violence. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits sex discrimination in educational programs and activities at institutions that receive federal financial assistance.
Transgender Student-Athlete Information
Transgender students who wish to participate in an athletic program at Carthage should familiarize themselves with NCAA policies and the necessary paperwork for participation.

Student Organizations
Many Carthage student groups are devoted to issues of diversity and to providing support, advocacy, and education. All of Carthage’s 130+ student organizations are open to all students. Clubs include the Asian Pacific American Coalition of Carthage, Black Student Union, International Friendship Society, Jewish Awareness Association, LGBT Student Association, Mi Gente, Pagan Forum, Special Olympics Club, Students Against Sexism in Society, United Women of Color, and more.
